Change the Default Username to Your Username at Login:

Does your staff get annoyed when they click on the GoldMine Icon only to be welcomed by a username other than their own? If so, now may be the time to change the default username to truly say “Welcome to GoldMine!”

The following procedure will guide you through the process of changing the default username found on the GoldMine Login Prompt Screen.

      1. Locate the GoldMine Icon on your desktop, right-click and select Properties
      2. Add the following to the end of the TARGET line: /u:UserName (Ex: j:\GoldMine\gmw5.exe /u:Marty) - Make sure you enter a space between the end of the target path and the beginning of the user login add-on.
      3. If your target path is surrounded by quotes then add the previous user add-on statement after the quotes (Ex: “j:\GoldMine\gmw5.exe” /u:Marty)

       

Shutting Off Unused Fields in Extended Detail Tabs:

Have you ever noticed when using extended Detail tabs (Test/ACT, Test SAT, etc.) that there are a number of unused fields that still show when you enter additional information. To clean your template up and mark these fields as hidden execute the following procedure:

      1. Open GoldMine
      2. Select an extended Detail tab (Example: Test/ACT)
      3. Right-click and select New
      4. Select the Setup Tab
      5. Insert double * (Example: **) in any of the fields that are unused
      6. Select OK
      7. Repeat steps 1-6 on all extended Detail tabs
      8. Exit and then re-enter GoldMine
