For more than a century, Howard Payne University has prepared students for life-long learning and service. Through quality academic programs, a commitment to its Christian heritage, and the desire for students to develop leadership abilities, Howard Payne is preparing students for success in the 21st century.

Founded in 1889, Howard Payne University is a private, coeducational institution affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas. HPU offers liberal arts and pre-professional undergraduate programs in a distinctive residential community.

Students may choose from more than 50 majors, minors and pre-professional programs within six schools: Business, Christian Studies, Education, Humanities, Music and Fine Arts, and Science and Math. HPU offers several innovative programs, including the nationally-recognized Douglas MacArthur Academy of Freedom honors program and a degree in youth ministry.

HPU enrolls approximately 1,400 students. HPU's student/faculty ratio of 16:1 guarantees close interaction between professors and students. HPU offers more than student 45 organizations, including honor societies, service and social clubs, departmental groups, athletics and intramurals.
